Health Center
The School-Based Health Center provides comprehensive health services as a part of a school health program sponsored by:
- Evanston Health Department
- North Shore University Health System
- Evanston Township High School
- Grant funding from the Illinois Department of Human Services
Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Social Workers and Public Health Nurses are available to provide primary health care and psychosocial services to all students who have a parental consent form completed and on file.
The health care providers at the ETHS Health Center and the school board consider parental involvement important. Accordingly, we encourage every student to involve his or her parent(s) or guardian(s) in counseling and medical care decisions. Parents or guardians are encouraged to be physically present at the time of the child’s appointment. By signing the parental consent, the parent or guardian acknowledges the importance of participation in their child’s health care.
However, there are specific areas in which the confidentiality of the student by law must be guaranteed and this must be respected. Students will be encouraged to involve their parents or guardians in all aspects of their medical care. In the case of a medical emergency, the health care provider will attempt to notify the parent or guardian as soon as possible.
