Instructional Technology
At ETHS, teachers combine instructional technology with traditional academic strategies to engage students in active learning. Instructional technology practices increase student achievement, improve media literacy and allow young people to foster creative production. The IIT department supports on-going professional development for teachers and staff, and regularly explores new technologies that will create collaborative learning experiences for students.

 Informational Technology
Evanston Township High School continues to expand its information technologies to increase district-wide communication opportunities for ETHS audiences. Informational technology initiatives provide students, families and community members with the information and access they need to be more informed and involved with ETHS happenings. The IIT department at ETHS offers informational technology solutions that are adaptable and current, yet sensitive to the ethical use of technology and the media literacy needs of our community.

Informational Technology initiatives include: district-wide website with online events calendar, RSS feed and e-mail subscription capabilities, superior search functionality, and rich media and content from a variety of ETHS voices; improved automated telephone system for emergency as well as other important parent communication; handheld, hallway ID scanner student assistance ("what’s my locker combination") and discipline system ("like getting a speeding ticket for being late to class"); classroom issue and conduct referral system; online student enrollment system; online student property tracking system.
