Physical Plant

ETHS offers facilities for study, training and recreation. The automated-library system, which is networked to all Illinois libraries, has a 90,000-volume collection and extensive audio-visual resources. Performance facilities include a 1,500- seat auditorium and two additional theaters, as well as cable TV and radio broadcasting studios. Science facilities include a planetarium, greenhouse, and a two-acre, on-site nature center/outdoor classroom. An on-site day-care center serves as a laboratory for child-study classes.

Technology is essential to student achievement. The school’s computer center houses over 200 computers, all with Internet access, and computer software is available for every course in the curriculum. Students investigate careers in computer-based SMART Labs. Applied Sciences/Technologies students learn business applications, run an auto-repair lab, and learn engineering applications in computer-aided design, lasers, manufacturing, and robotics all using state-ofthe- art technology. Students studying electronic music and graphic design/communications have their own computerized labs.

Sports-related facilities include 15 gyms, a dance studio, gymnastics gym, fitness/wellness center, two swimming pools, a field house with an indoor track and tennis courts, an outside asphalt track, a stadium, and baseball, lacrosse and soccer fields.
