The standard education program at ETHS offers a variety of resources and support services for students. However, in
some cases, students with very complex needs require the specialized programs and resources available through the
Special Education Department.

The department offers resource services and instructional programs for students with the following special needs:

• Auditory, visual, physical or health impairments
• Speech or language impairments
• Learning disabilities
• Mental impairments
• Emotional disorders
• Autism spectrum disorders
• Multiple handicapping conditions

Students are scheduled into these programs and services ONLY as a result of case-study evaluations, child-review
conferences, and Individualized Education Program (IEP) team meetings. IEP goals and objectives are aligned with state
standards. Student scheduling is authorized by the student’s guidance counselor with the special education lead teacher.
The Special Education Department also serves physically challenged students and students with visual impairments, and
provides home/hospital instruction for students with health impairments who are unable to attend school for extended
periods of time. The department also offers counseling, psycho-logical and psychiatric services, and other services
designed to meet the unique needs of disabled students who are eligible for special education.
