Eligibility Requirements
Students interested in business careers and/or looking to develop personal leadership through competitive activities that stress communication skills.
Time Commitment
Meetings take place 2-3 times per month from September through January but students participating in athletics and other extracurriculars have flexibility in terms of attendance.
All members must committ to one day competition at Area conference in January/February; three day State competition in March in downstate Illinois (students who don’t compete at these events are not considered active members.)
Students will also need to devote time to developing a DECA project for a role play scenario and/or a research project for competition at the state conference in March. Students who place in the state competition may choose to go on to international competition in late April.

Description
Evanston DECA provides business students with the opportunity to compete with other high school business students in the area, state and nation in business, marketing, finance, entrepreneurship, management and hospitality projects focused on business concepts. Students compete through role-playing buiness scenarios or through creation and presentation of a business/marketing oriented project. We compete in our area in March, in a state conference in April and potentially in an international conference at the end of April every year.
