Advanced Placement (AP) Courses

Students at Evanston Township High School are encouraged to take Advanced Placement (AP) courses so that they will experience rigorous, college-level work in high school. ETHS currently offers 26 Advanced Placement courses in six different departments. A complete list of courses is available in the Course Selection Guide. Students and parents are urged to read the AP course descriptions to understand the level of work expected. In addition, they are encouraged to seek advice from teachers, counselors, and department chairs about which AP classes would be the best fit with their high school program and their college and career plans.

Advanced Placement (AP) Exams (2012 Exam Schedule)

Students enrolled in an Advanced Placement course are expected to take the AP Exam offered by the College Board. The AP Exams are administered over a two-week period in May. For complete details on AP Exams, review the AP Exam information on the Testing Programs page.

Advanced Placement (AP) Summer Boot Camps

Each summer, ETHS offers AP Boot Camps in specific courses to prepare students for the AP experience so they can make a smoother transition into their AP courses during the academic year. AP Boot Camps are FREE and are open to students who are registered for specific AP courses.

Teachers of the AP courses facilitate the boot camps, and students will have opportunities to engage directly with the teachers and gain information they need to know to better ensure their success in their Advanced Placement courses. Students attending an AP Boot Camp can expect to:

  • learn specific course expectations

  • review and examine course materials

  • participate in and experience sample lessons

  • learn course-specific skills

  • learn ways to access additional support

  • review expectations and/or receive feedback on summer assignments (course dependent)

  • learn testing expectations and requirements

  • engage with teachers and students enrolled in the course

...and much more.

AP Boot Camps are coordinated by the ETHS Student Support Office. For more information or for answers to your AP Boot Camp questions, call (847) 424-7043.
