Dear ETHS Families -
Earlier today school officials were informed that a student had a plastic toy gun in his possession on school property. ETHS administration, along with the assistance of our School Resource Officer and the Evanston Police Department, quickly investigated the situation. The investigation confirmed that the student did have a plastic toy gun, and the student was removed from school property immediately and taken into custody by the police. The student will face appropriate disciplinary action at the school level and criminal charges as determined by law enforcement.
While this was not an actual weapon, any report of an alleged weapon at school or on school property is considered serious and will not be tolerated. Please encourage your student to report any suspicious activity to school officials, or to use the ETHS or EPD anonymous Text-A-Tip message lines (http://www.eths.k12.il.us/safety/text/
). Please be assured that we will take every report seriously and will continue to do everything we can to ensure student safety at ETHS.
The investigation is a police matter. All inquiries should be directed to the Evanston Police Department.
