Kiwanis Club honors ETHS students
The Kiwanis Club of Evanston recognized two groups of ETHS students in December 2016. ETHS junior Jasper Davidoff and ETHS senior Danielle Reiser were recognized for their efforts to make Evanston a better community. ETHS seniors Turner Dobbs, Chris Rivera, and Leighah-Amori Wool were recognized as scholar athletes. Each student received the Ted Van Zelst Award.
Davidoff and Reiser worked on the Publicity Club and put together a plan to encourage eligible students to register to vote. Their combined efforts resulted in 250 registrations. Reiser also worked with the UNICEF/Trick or Treat program while Davidoff is a member of the ETHS Marching Band.

Dobbs transitioned to diving after being a gymnast and credits diving with adding structure to his life. He plans to continue diving in college where he will major in accounting.
Rivera comes from a family of wrestlers and has become well versed about how to maintain the proper weight for a weight division. He hopes to major in mechanical engineering as a college student and continue his wrestling career.
Wool, a member of the ETHS Girls Basketball team, recently scored her 1200th point and looks forward to pursuing her passion for the game in college. She feels she has learned many life lessons playing basketball and hopes to become a high school teacher, like her parents.
The Kiwanis Club recognizes outstanding scholars in athletics, fine arts, and community service throughout the school year. The Ted Van Zelst Award was named for a prominent Evanston businessman, entrepreneur and humanitarian. Awardees received a certificate of recognition, a book on leadership, and a gift card.
