This Weekend in Wildkit Sports: February 17-18

Catch the playoff excitement that’s building up for the Wildkits! ETHS hosts the IHSA Girls Basketball Regional Championship on Friday, February 17 at 7:30pm as our Lady Wildkits take on the Ramblers of Loyola, having won the semifinals 52-24 over Von Steuben.  Admission is $4 for everyone as this is an IHSA event.
 
Boys Basketball had two exciting wins last weekend.  The first was Friday night (February 10) vs. New Trier at Northwestern in front of a crowd of 3,000 people when the Kits won in O.T. 55-52. The replays of both the girls’ and the boys’ games at Northwestern can be seen on XFinity On Demand (choose "Get Local," then "Sports," then "Basketball").  Saturday night (February 11) was senior night at home, and the boys put on a strong performance beating St. Charles East High School 60-53. The crowd paid tribute to former ETHS basketball star and Athletic Hall of Fame member Everette Stephens (brother of Safety Department’s Herb Stephens) who returned to Beardsley as an assistant coach from St. Charles.  He’s also the father of the leading St. Charles player Kendall Stephens. The boys play at Glenbrook South on Friday, February 17 at 7:30pm.
 
It’s crunch time for the Boys Swimming & Diving team who compete in the State Sectionals at New Trier on Saturday, February 18.  This meet decides who will swim at the State Finals at ETHS on February 24-25.
