Wildkit Academy for Students

Welcome to Wildkit Academy, an academic support program available to all students on select Saturday mornings beginning September 24, 2011. During Wildkit Academy, teachers and support staff will be available to help students in designated core content areas. Students will have an opportunity to ask questions and share problems with teachers, or may choose to use Wildkit Academy as a space to collaborate with classmates on a group project, hold informal study groups, or work on class assignments.

Wildkit Academy is designed to provide a flexible academic support environment for all students. Students are encouraged to attend to get the boost they need to succeed at Evanston Township High School - and beyond!


DATES: Wildkit Academy will be held on select Saturdays during the 2011-12 school year. The dates were selected based on the school’s academic calendar, and target key times in the quarter where additional support may be needed, such as around testing dates:

TIMES: Two morning academic support sessions will be offered during Wildkit Academy. Students may attend one or both of the sessions, depending on their need and availability. Incentives and prizes will be offered to students who attend and take advantage of this unique opportunity. While students may enter a session later than the scheduled start time, they will be asked to stay until the end of that session.

9:00 a.m. – 10:25 a.m.

  • Break
10: 25 a.m. – 10: 35 a.m.
(Snacks will be provided and raffles will take place during this time)
  • Session 2
10:35 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.



LOCATION: Students attending Wildkit Academy should enter at the rear of the building through the Bacon/South School entrance (Door #31). All students must bring their student ID and will be required to swipe their ID to enter the designated areas for support. Students will receive a flyer with Wildkit Academy room locations as they enter the building each Saturday.

Wildkit Academy: AP and Enriched Course Support

The Wildkit Academy will provide support in the following areas:

 

 

 

 

 
Teachers of designated Avanced Placement (AP) and enriched courses will host review and support sessions for students enrolled in those courses. The schedule for these support sessions will vary. Students enrolled in AP and enriched courses will be notified of any upcoming sessions by their teachers, this website, and the school’s automated phone message system
 

 

Clearing Detentions:

The Wildkit Academy provides an alternative to detentions:

 
Successfully completing one session of Wildkit Academy (9:00 -10:25 -or- 10:35 -12:00) will clear 5 detentions.
Successfully completing two sessions of Wildkit Academy (9:00am - 12:00pm) will clear 10 detentions.
To successfully complete a session, students must actively study or get tutorial assistance and turn in the Wildkit Academy Voucher to the Study Center Monitor in W201 after the session. For additional information, read the FAQ, or contact the Deans’ Office at (847) 424-7900.
