Step 3: Get Involved, Plan Ahead, and Stay Connected!

  • Plan your school year, plan your future

While at ETHS, students will develop a broader awareness of self and the breadth of opportunities available after high school. This school year, Wildkit Futures Day will be held October 24. The day is designed to help you bridge current learning experiences with your future and empower you with the tools to make informed decisions about your post-high school options.

You will also develop your Individualized Career and Academic Plan (ICAP) to inform your decisions about courses and activities and allow you to make connections to your goals. Your ICAP incorporates self-exploration, career exploration, and academic planning activities that enhance the relevance of school and out-of-school learning experiences. Connect to your online post-high school planning tool, SchooLinks

For questions, assistance, or resources, students and families may visit the ETHS Counseling, Career and College Services web page.

ETHS has more than 60 clubs available to students. Not looking to join a club right now? Attend school events such as dances, or cheer on classmates at school competitions and performances. Check out the detailed list of available clubs and activities on our website, or visit the Student Activities office in The Hub (W220).

    Explore community service opportunities

The Community Service Office provides many service activities and service learning experiences that suit student schedules, personal goals, skill sets, and interests. Discover more about community service online, or visit the Community Service office in The Hub (W220).

    Participate in the arts

ETHS offers a variety of experiences in theatre including stage crew, music, speech and debate, and visual arts. Start dates for fall, winter, and spring productions, along with links to pages with information on how to join or audition, can be found on the Performing and Visual Arts Calendar on the ETHS website.

    Register for sports

Sports registration can be completed in myETHS. Students who would like to participate in sports at ETHS should complete the registration steps provided on the web page prior to the start date for each sport they wish to play.

Find places to go for help at ETHS

ETHS has a variety of academic student centers, libraries, and supports available to all students. Visit our "Places to Go" page to find out more about these locations and hours of operation.

Log in to Student and Parent portals

The ETHS website has two online portals for students and parents to monitor student learning and participation: Home Access Center (HAC) and myETHS. A single user account provides access to both portals. Learn more about what you can do with these portals at the link above.

    • How to Report a Student Absence

Parents/guardians are encouraged to use myETHS to submit Absence Requests for their students. You will also be able to view Absence Reports and Arrive Late/Leave Early passes.

The Attendance Guidelines also include information about mental health absences. Illinois law allows for five (5) excused absences per year from school without the need for a doctor’s note. Students will be able to make up any missed work from their absence.

For step-by-step instructions on how to create and view an absence report, please see myETHS Absence Report User Guide for parents/guardians. Parents/guardians can change their preferred language on myETHS when they log in (top left side). The ETHS Attendance Office will review and approve your Absence Report. They will contact you if there are questions about your absence report.

Parents/guardians may still call the Student Attendance Line at 847-424-7800 to report a student absence. For more information about Absence Reporting and Attendance Guidelines, please see the ETHS website.

How do I view my grades?

Students and parents/guardians can log in to Home Access Center (HAC) at any time to view progress reports and report cards (or sign up to receive these by email). Progress Reports and Report Cards will not be sent home via postal mail.

    • Report Cards are each prepared four times a year, at the end of each marking period.

    • Progress Reports are each prepared four times a year, in the middle of each marking period. (Progress Reports are sometimes called IPRs for Interim Progress Reports.)

Students and parents can also log in regularly to view assignments, attendance, grades, and class schedules.

    Open House - August 31

On Thursday, August 31, ETHS will host an Open House to provide our families with opportunities to be involved in their student’s high school experience. Parents/guardians will get to know who the teachers are, what they teach, and expectations for the year. More information about Open House will be shared after the first day of school.
