Important Update: ETHS Sports & Activities Suspended as of 11/19/2020
Dear Students and Families,
On November 17, 2020, Governor Pritzker announced additional statewide mitigation efforts in response to the COVID-19 resurgence. The Tier 3 Resurgence Mitigations, effective November 20, attempt to slow the spread of the virus and do apply to school districts. The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) confirmed that the more restrictive Tier 3 mitigation strategies suspend all indoor group sporting and recreational activities, including youth and adult recreational sports. The IHSA also released a statement to confirm that winter sports will be paused.
Consistent with the guidance of Governor Pritzker and ISBE, ETHS will suspend all extracurricular activities (including athletics, fine arts, and student activities) beginning Thursday, November 19. ETHS is also suspending all outdoor activities as an additional measure to help accomplish the goal of containing the spread of COVID. The Governor did not specify how long the Tier 3 mitigations will be in place, but we will be sure to keep you informed when the status of in-person activities changes.
We understand that this is a disappointing transition for many students who participate in sports, clubs, rehearsals, and other activities. Students will still be able to participate in online virtual experiences in athletics and activities. Check with your coach and/or sponsor for more information.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding.
