Updates for Week Ending April 23; Non-Compliance Practices During COVID

Dear Students & Parents/Guardians:

As the Hybrid Instruction Schedule continues at ETHS, we emphasize the importance of honest and accurate self-certification and health assessment each school day. ETHS students, families, and staff who do not provide accurate and honest answers to the COVID screening questions are considered to be non-compliant with district practices and procedures relevant to public health and the pandemic. As a result, the student will be placed on full remote status for the remainder of the 2020-21 school year to engage in their education, as well as receive a social work referral as needed and have a restorative conference with the Dean to discuss the impact of their decision and how to repair harm done to the school community. ETHS students are able to fully engage in the educational process through remote learning.

District practices and procedures also apply to extracurricular activities at ETHS. As noted in the Safety Guidelines for Athletics, students that do not follow health and safety guidelines will be removed from participation. Programs that do not follow outlined procedures will have their seasons suspended.

If you’re 16 or older, you’re now eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. To ensure you’re vaccinated as soon as possible, the City recommends seeking out appointments through multiple trusted providers, including:

Please be aware that the City uses the contact form to notify community members when it is their turn for vaccinations. Availability of the vaccine in Evanston affects the timeframe for being contacted, so besides filling out the form provided by the city, community members are encouraged to make other appointments as linked above.

CDC guidelines indicate that after you’ve been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, you should keep taking precautions like wearing a mask and physical distancing. Please see the CDC’s information about When You’ve Been Fully Vaccinated for the latest updates.
