COVID Testing Begins October 18, 2021; Important Health Reminders

Dear Students and Parents/Guardians:

As a reminder, ETHS District 202 has partnered with the University of Illinois (SHIELD) program to conduct COVID testing, which supports our efforts to monitor and mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in our school community. The start for weekly COVID testing has been updated to the week of October 18, 2021.

Students who have not submitted proof of vaccination will be tested through the SHIELD program. Testing is a saliva (spit) test that will occur on a designated day each week during school hours (no appointments necessary). Participation in the SHIELD testing program does not exclude a student from quarantine requirements should they be identified as a close contact.

If a student is vaccinated and you have not yet submitted proof, please complete the Proof of Covid Vaccination for Students as soon as possible.

Students who have not submitted proof of vaccination will receive an email next week with their COVID testing location and steps they need to follow to complete the testing process.

For additional information, please review the SHIELD Illinois FAQs and the informational video: SHIELD Illinois K-12 Schools Collection Examples.

Important health reminders

  • Do not come to school any time you are ill or have new or different symptoms, including but not limited to: fever, sore throat, loss of sense of smell, muscle or body aches, new cough, vomiting, or diarrhea.
  • For students with symptoms of COVID or concerns about a COVID exposure, they should stay home and can make an appointment through the school-based Health Center if already registered. If your student is not registered with the Health Center, they can make an appointment and bring the consent form signed by their parent/guardian.
  • If a student receives a positive COVID test result, please follow the Contact Tracing Steps.

Thank you for your continued support, including mask wearing over the nose and mouth at all times while indoors. If a student has not been vaccinated, please consider doing that as soon as possible.
