A team of Evanston Township High School students took third place in the Academic Challenge regional competition in February 2019 and will advance to the sectional competition in March.
The Academic Challenge, previously conducted by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s College of Engineering WYSE Outreach Program, is a statewide competition that now runs through Eastern Illinois University. Each team of up to 14 students competes in biology, chemistry, computer science, English, mathematics, and physics, and each student works in two subject areas. The top two individual scores in a subject area are then used to compute team scores.
ETHS students taking individual honors by subject area include:
Benjamin Keown - tied for 2nd place
Owen Travis - tied for 3rd place
Chris Gottardi-Littell - 3rd place
Zachary Andalman and Ronan Soni - tied for 3rd place
The team also includes Echo Allen, Jaime Berkovich, Polina Cherepanova, Owen Janssen, Daniel Linder, Isabella Miller, Tabby Spyrison, Ezra Steinberg, and Benjamin Timmins.
