Academic Video Online (Alexander Street) - - Academic Video Online provides over 70,000 video titles spanning a wide range of subject areas. making it the most comprehensive video subscription available to libraries. Included are films, documentaries, clips of historic events, newsreels and more.
eRead Illinois - a cooperative program that expands access to ebooks and audiobooks for Illinois residents. The collection contains thousands of titles for quick and easy download. To login to Eread Illinois, click on "Login" in the upper right hand corner of the start page and use your Chromebook username and password (without @eths202.org).
Sora - The Sora app allows library users to locate and download ebooks and audiobooks on their computer, tablet or phone. This is a direct way to access the ebook collection at ETHS and allows users to link to their local public library.
Swank K12 Streaming (Teacher Access) - The Swank video library includes thousands of films for educational support, including the top feature films, documentaries and foreign titles. Teachers will assign videos/films as applicable and send students a direct link. Once students receive a link to the film, they will use their Chromebook login information to view the film.
Use online catalogs to find library materials such as books, magazines, A-V materials and other resources.
Art and Music
Oxford Art Online - Grove Art Online is the most comprehensive online reference resource for all aspects of the visual arts worldwide from prehistory to the present day. Database includes the entire print edition of The Dictionary of Art, a fully searchable text, thousands of images, and links to other sites.
Oxford Music Online - Online version of the excellent print resource. Search for musicians, groups, genres and much more.

Accessible Archives (now History Commons) - History Commons include availability to eyewitness accounts of historical events, vivid descriptions of daily life, editorial observations, and commerce as seen through advertisements. African American newspapers and many other periodicals from the 18th, 19th and 20th century figure prominently in this amazing collection.
CultureGrams- Reports for 182 countries and territories with categories such as: land and climate, history, personal appearance, greetings, gestures, family, diet, holidays, economy, education, health, and events and trends. Additional features include photo gallery, recipe collection, as well as an index of famous persons.
History Reference Center - Covering topics in U.S. and world history from the earliest civilizations through the 21st century, History Reference Center is a research database containing full-text journals, magazines, reference books and thousands of primary source documents.
Opposing Viewpoints in Context - Covers today’s hottest social issues in-depth with more than 5,000 topic overviews, 14,000 pro/con essays and over 5 million periodical articles.
U.S. History in Context - Spans United States History from its origins until today. Provides overview articles, viewpoint essays; reference articles, newspaper and periodical articles, and primary source documents.
World History in Context - Contains comprehensive global history overview articles from antiquity to the present from a wide variety of sources: reference books, newspapers and periodicals; primary source documents as well as maps and images.
Latino American Experience- A full-text digital resource exploring all aspects of history and culture of Latinos living in the United States. Literature and Poetry
Literature Resource Center LRC- Provides access to biographies, bibliographies, and critical analyses of authors from every age and literary discipline. Combining Gale Group's core literary databases in a single online service, this also covers more than 120,000 novelists, poets, essayists, journalists, and other writers, with in-depth coverage of 2,500 of the most-studied authors.
The Oxford English Dictionary (OED)- Known as the “definitive record of the English language,” the OED is an ongoing masterwork which shows both the historical development of words as well as modern usage (and much more).
NoveList - Your complete guide to fiction. This database allows users to locate works of fiction, reviews, and author and plot information by use of both quick and advanced searching features. Users can also access information on author read-alikes, book discussion guides, book talks, and feature articles concerning fiction in general. Various links also connect to websites with excellent teacher resource materials. Science News - Science News is the official magazine of The Society for Science & the Public. It includes a wide range of scientific articles and also offers a large archive of back issues. A great resource for students and teachers alike! Please ask a librarian for a password slip to access current articles and the Science News archive.
Science Reference Center - Science Reference Center provides full text for hundreds of science magazines, journals, reference books and high-quality videos. The database also contains science experiments, curriculum-aligned lesson plans, and a vast image collection.
Teen Health & Wellness - Comprehensive fully cited articles, written by medical professionals on topics including: diseases, drugs, alcohol, nutrition, fitness, mental health, diversity, family life, and more. Also contains a glossary; interactive polls and quizzes; and first-person teen narratives.
Professional Education
ERIC - The world’s largest source of education information, contains abstracts of documents and journal articles on education research and practice. Database also covers descriptions and evaluations of programs, research reports and surveys, curriculum and teaching guides, instructional materials, position papers, and resource materials. ProQuest Professional Education - Gives users access to over 790 top educational publications, including more than 615 of the titles in full-text. Offers complete information on hundreds of educational topics. PDF imaged articles include charts, tables, and diagrams.

Auschwitz History - From the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum. This site offers easy to read articles which chart the history of the rise of Nazism to the building of the death camp. Also included are: categories of prisoners, fate of children; life in the camp, medical experiments, and more. There are several photo galleries, and virtual tours of both Auschwitz I and Auschwitz II-Birkenau.
Bartleby.com - An Internet storehouse of Great Books in public domain that is a must-see for any research project. Here you will find plays, poems, short stories, unabridged novels; religious works, quotations, English usage and grammar books; and non-fiction works by notable historic authors.
CIA World Fact Book - The Factbook provides a summary of the demographics, geography, communications, government, economy, and military of 266 U.S. recognized countries, dependencies, and other areas in the world.
Encyclopedia of Chicago - The Encyclopedia of Chicago is a dynamic and unprecedented metropolitan history. Thousands of historical resources, including articles, photos, maps, broadsides and newspapers, related to Chicago's colorful and complex history are at your fingertips.
Holocaust Encyclopedia- Created by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, this online encyclopedia has articles on all aspects of the Holocaust: history, biographies; Third Reich, ghettos, Nazi camps; Mosaic of Victims, Resistance movements and the aftermath of the Holocaust, among many others. Included are links to personal testimonies of Holocaust survivors; photo galleries of artifacts and of historical events. The Education tab has materials for teachers to use in their classrooms.

Occupational Outlook Handbook - From the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. This online version is a nationally recognized source of career information, designed to provide assistance to individuals making decisions about their future work lives. It is updated every two years.
Poets.org - A database of poetry and poets.
Pros and Cons - Promoting critical thinking, education, and informed citizenship by presenting controversial issues in a straightforward, nonpartisan, primarily pro-con format.
Public Broadcasting Station (PBS) - Programming and air dates. A list of headings about shows on a particular topic.

Shmoop has practice exams, drills, test taking strategies, review guides, videos and information on a variety of different subjects. Shmoop includes all of the topics for the ACT, AP Courses and Exams, the SAT and other standardized tests. Shmoop is a student-friendly resource that has shown to be popular and successful for students throughout the year. This resource is useful for and available to 9th through 12th grade students and helps then access the tools they need to succeed. Students will have access to the full suite of Shmoop resources.
