Open House Day
SCHOOL DAY OPEN HOUSE (formerly Parent Shadow Day): 8:00am-2:09pmParents, guardians, and other adult family members (grandparents, godparents, aunts, uncles, adult siblings 25 years and older) can RSVP to attend school on Open House Day with their current ETHS student in grade 9-12. Depending on their schedule, they can join their student for the entire school day, half day, or just one or two classes. During the School Day Open House, adult guests can experience 33-minute classes, lunch time, and passing periods with their child(ren) to see what it feels like to be a “Wildkit for a Day.”The school day begins at 8:00am with AM Support and continues with the PD Monday schedule (33-minute periods) until 2:09pm. First period begins at 8:32am. To kick off the day, adult guests are invited to attend a Morning Welcome Coffee in the Welcome Center “VIP Suite” in room E112 at 7:30am. The VIP Suite is open all day for guests through the end of 8th period and will have light refreshments and free Wi-Fi. Lunch will be available for purchase in the Terrace staff dining room, the student cafeterias, or South Study Cafe.
Registration is required for the School Day Open House and begins August 1. EVENING OPEN HOUSE: 6:00-9:00pmParents, guardians, and adult other adult family members* (age 25+) are invited to attend our evening open house on September 25 with or without their current ETHS student(s) in grade 9-12. Younger siblings may attend the Evening Open House if accompanied by an adult. Parents/guardians of students enrolled in advanced middle school math courses at ETHS are invited to attend their child’s math class during the Evening Open House to meet their teacher.Guests will follow their student’s schedule, visiting each classroom for 10-minutes to get to know their child’s teachers and to hear about course expectations. Grade-level deans, counselors, social workers, psychologists, and academic advisors will be in cafeterias during 10-minute lunch periods to provide information about student well-being resources.No registration is required for the Evening Open House. The VIP Suite in the Welcome Center (E112) will be open for coffee/tea throughout the evening, beginning at 5:30pm. The building is wheelchair accessible, and elevator service is available for adults who require the assistance.
The ETHS School Day Open House is open to parents/guardians/adult relatives (25 years and older) of current ETHS students in grades 9-12 only. Student or family acquaintances, and children who are not registered as current ETHS students in grades 9-12, such as younger siblings, may not attend the School Day Open House as this is a regular school day. The ETHS Evening Open House is open to parents/guardians/adult relatives (25 years and older) of current ETHS students in grades 9-12. Younger siblings may attend the ETHS Evening Open House if accompanied by an adult. Parents/guardians of students enrolled in advanced middle school math courses at ETHS are invited to attend their child’s math class during the Evening Open House to meet their teacher. Please note that teachers cannot provide personal conferences during the School Day Open House or at the Evening Open House. Adult guests must follow their student's current class schedule. Drop-in visits to classes where your student is not currently enrolled, and/or drop-in visits to other classes or teacher classrooms during unscheduled periods on your student's schedule are not permitted. Additionally, school rules apply to all visitors of Evanston Township High School, including rules about cell phones and electronic devices as outlined in The Pilot handbook.
