Speech & Debate Team students at Evanston Township High School have experienced success in several fall competitions. Below are recent results for the 2017-18 season.
Badgerland Debate Tournament in Madison, WI
Seniors Nina Kaushikkar and Gigi Wade finished first among 60 teams, qualifying them to the Tournament of Champions in Public Forum debate. Senior Elizabeth Sperti advanced to elimination rounds with a 6-1 preliminary record, and then won her first elimination debate while advocating for inclusive debate praxes.
Schaumburg Open and the Sandburg Festival
Freshman Gabriel Stern now has back-to-back top five finishes in novice Lincoln-Douglas debate.
CCFL season opener at Depaul College Prep
At the first speech tournament of the season, ETHS took top spots in three events: junior Sarah Bloom won Original Oratory, sophomore Sheila Sestoso won Declamation, and senior Jasper Davidoff won Extemporaneous Speaking.
