ETHS sophomores Azarria Terrell-Wess and Taryn Robinson won first and second place, respectively, for their essay submissions in the Mental Health America of the North Shore (MHANS) 2020 Essay and Multimedia Contest for 9th and 10th graders.

The annual MHANS contest is open to students around the Chicagoland area. This year’s theme focused on the mental health topic “Bouncing Back: The Courage to Change.” Students were asked to write a story in 250 to 500 words, using personal experiences to describe a time they faced a difficult situation and how they were able to bounce back.

ETHS teachers Karla Clark and Carol Friedman were also recognized by MHANS as mental health champions for their support of the annual contest.

For more information, visit the MHANS Facebook page, which includes a video post of the complete contest results.
