September 17, 2021  3:30pm CT

Fifteen seniors from Evanston Township High School have been named semifinalists for the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program.

The ETHS semifinalists are: Jacob Chiss, Cornelia Di Gioia, Paxton Fetters, Sophie Lammers, Kai Li-Caldwell, Annika Macy, Aaron Martin, George O’Carroll, Noa Polish, Maeve Schanou, Jack Sokol, Sydney Ter Molen, Carmen Tracy-Amoroso, George Weiler, and Brandon Wui.

Approximately 16,000 high school students were named as semifinalists by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). These students represent less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors. According to NMSC, semifinalists and their schools must submit a detailed scholarship application that demonstrates an outstanding academic record throughout high school and endorsement by a high school official.

Semifinalists have an opportunity to continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships to be offered next spring. To be considered for a National Merit Scholarship award, semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the finalist level of the competition.

For more information about the competition, visit the NMSC website.
