Fifteen seniors from Evanston Township High School have been named Semifinalists, and four more have been named Commended Students in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program.
The ETHS Semifinalists are: Jacob Chiss, Cornelia Di Gioia, Paxton Fetters, Sophie Lammers, Kai Li-Caldwell, Annika Macy, Aaron Martin, George O’Carroll, Noa Polish, Maeve Schanou, Jack Sokol, Sydney Ter Molen, Carmen Tracy-Amoroso, George Weiler, and Brandon Wui.
The ETHS Commended Students are: Charles Bavis, Amelia Brownell, John O’Connor, and Sebastian Schultz.
The National Merit Scholarship Company (NMSC) annually recognizes U.S. high school students who demonstrate definitive marks of academic excellence. Semifinalists have an opportunity to continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships to be offered next spring. Approximately 16,000 high school students were named as semifinalists by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). These students represent less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors. According to NMSC, semifinalists and their schools must submit a detailed scholarship application that demonstrates an outstanding academic record throughout high school and endorsement by a high school official.
