Emmet Ebels Duggan, a senior at Evanston Township High School was recognized as a 2023 U.S. Presidential Scholar by the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program. The program honored 161 of the nation's most distinguished graduating seniors.

According to program guidelines, scholars are chosen on the basis of their accomplishments in many areas – academic and artistic success, technical excellence, leadership, and involvement in school and the community – and represent excellence in education and the promise of greatness in America’s youth. Application is by invitation only and the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars reviewed the applications of all finalists from a pool of more than 5,000 candidates.
