Kiwanis Club honors ETHS scholar athletes

The Kiwanis Club of Evanston honored four Evanston Township High School students in April 2017. ETHS seniors Allysah Boothe, Brian Daniels, Megan Chambers, and Riley Hughes received the Ted Van Zelst Award.


Boothe, a member of the ETHS Girls Basketball team, has played the game since third grade. She is also involved in Girls Play Sports which encourages elementary age girls to learn and become involved in athletics, while learning to compete, perform and grow in confidence.


Chambers co-captains the Girls Softball Team and also served as co-captain of the Girls Cross Country team. A Peer Tutor and Girls Play Sports mentor, she plans to major in engineering and life sciences in college.


Daniels, Boys Track & Field, has been has been a runner since the fifth grade and competes in various areas such as short distance, long jump, and hurdles. He plans to go into civil engineering after high school.


Hughes, a swimmer and water polo team member at ETHS, is also involved in Girls Play Sports. She hopes to follow her family’s interest in government and public service by studying public policy in college.


The Kiwanis Club has recognized more than 200 outstanding scholars in athletics, fine arts, and community service since 2007.
