ETHS students finish strong in international DECA competition

In April 2019, Evanston Township High School (ETHS) students competed in the DECA International Career Development Conference (ICDC) held in Orlando, Florida. As finalists in the state competition, 22 ETHS students earned the opportunity to join more than 10,000 DECA members who demonstrated their college and career knowledge and skills by participating in DECA’s Competitive Events Program.

 

ETHS sophomore Maya Moskal finished the international competition in the top 10 of the Franchise a Business Plan category, earning a spot on the Grand Awards stage.

 

Additionally, the following ETHS students earned competency recognition in their respective categories, indicating that a minimum 80 percent score was earned on their presentations during competition:

 

Megan Bezaitis, Genevieve Fleming, Lila Garfield, Ellie Gavelek, Tamara Guy, David Hodges, Katie Holland, Heera Imran, Nate Landolt, Nancy Maguire, Maya Moskal, Mika Parisien, Michael Schroeder, and Ethan Wernikoff.

 

The 2019 International Career Development Conference is attended by DECA high school students, advisors, businesspersons, and alumni from all over the United States, Guam, Puerto Rico, Spain, Mexico, Canada, and Japan. To learn more, visit www.deca.org/events/icdc.
