In May 2019, Evanston Township High School (ETHS) Wind Symphony performed at the Illinois SuperState Concert Band Festival held in Krannert Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
The Superstate Concert Band Festival is a non-competitive event that brings together middle school and high school bands for two days of performances. In order to participate, bands are required to submit 12 minutes of recorded music that will be pre-screened and evaluated by a panel of adjudicators from across the country. The top bands from each category are then invited to perform at the festival.
As a result of their performance, the ETHS Wind Symphony received the prestigious Honor Band designation. This distinction allows the group to perform at next year’s festival without having to complete its submission process.
