“Traumatized: Identify, Understand, and Cope with PTSD and Emotional Stress,” a conversation between Kati Morton, LMFT and Kelsey Darragh, will be held on Monday, October 4, beginning at 7:00pm via Zoom. The event is free and open to the public, suitable for ages 12 and up. Registration is required.

Recovery from trauma and PTSD is an especially vital topic these days. Trauma is emotional stress that can stem from a wide variety of upsetting experiences, leaving us feeling anxious, weighed down by negative emotions or memories, or feeling like we lack security. No one’s experience and recovery from it is the same. In Traumatized: Identify, Understand, and Cope with PTSD and Emotional Stress, licensed therapist and YouTube creator Kati Morton, LMFT shares a unique perspective on trauma in the modern age.

Morton is a licensed marriage and family therapist in private practice in Santa Monica, CA. Over the past decade she has leveraged social media to share mental health information worldwide through her videos. Morton’s YouTube channel has over one million subscribers and more than 80 million views.

Morton will be in conversation with Kelsey Darragh, a comedian, filmmaker, and mental health advocate living in Los Angeles. With over 250 million views on her anxiety videos, she’s quickly become the “big sister” of mental health on the internet. Formerly of BuzzFeed internet fame, Darragh moved on to E!’s Dating: No Filter, a fresh and hilariously honest take on the modern dating scene, and she hosts her own chart-topping podcast, “Confidently Insecure.”

The event will be recorded and available later on FAN’s website and YouTube channel. A bonus after-hours event is also available to webinar attendees. For more information, visit www.familyactionnetwork.net.

“Credible: Why We Doubt Accusers and Protect Abusers,” a conversation between Deborah Tuerkheimer and Megan Twohey, will be held on Thursday, October 7, beginning at 7:00pm via Zoom. The event is free and open to the public, suitable for ages 12 and up. Registration is required.

The #MeToo movement touched off a massive reckoning and exposed how victims have been badly served by a system that is designed not to protect them, but instead to protect the status quo. Credibility lies at the heart of this system. In her landmark book, Credible: Why We Doubt Accusers and Protect Abusers, former prosecutor, legal expert, and leading authority on sexual violence, Deborah Tuerkheimer reveals how we are all shaped by a set of false assumptions and hidden biases embedded in our culture, our legal system, and our psyches and offers a path forward to ensuring justice is truly served.

Tuerkheimer is a professor at Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law. She served for five years as an Assistant District Attorney in the New York County District Attorney's Office.

Tuerkheimer will be in conversation with Megan Twohey (FAN ’19), a Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative reporter for The New York Times.

The event will be recorded and available later on FAN’s website and YouTube channel. A bonus after-hours event is also available to webinar attendees. For more information, visit www.familyactionnetwork.net.
