The Evanston Township High School community is deeply saddened that one of our ETHS staff members, Mark Flowers, died on June 2, 2022. Flowers was a custodian in the Operations Department at ETHS for five years and his daughter is an ETHS alumna.
We are sensitive to the fact that the loss of a member of our school community has an impact on our students and staff. Anticipating possible reactions to this event, we have provided some information which may be helpful. Parents and guardians can begin helping their children by giving them an opportunity to talk about it, listening carefully and calmly, accepting their feelings, and answering questions honestly according to your beliefs. A list of resources available to teens in crisis situations is available on the ETHS website: http://www.eths.k12.il.us/Page/799.
We extend our heartfelt sympathy to Mark Flowers’ family. Condolence cards may be sent to ETHS, 1600 Dodge Ave., Room S133, Evanston, IL 60201.
