ETHS Chess Team Off to a Strong Start in 2024-25

The Evanston Township High School Chess Team became the first Illinois high school to win two tournaments this season after taking top honors at the Highland Park Giant Classic on November 2nd. All nine varsity team members contributed to the team’s success, with Adam Elgat and Shane Asbra winning performance awards for their impressive victories during the tournament.

 

ETHS had previously taken top honors at the Hinsdale Red Devil Challenge on October 19th. With this pair of victories, the Wildkits can claim a spot among the top teams in the state.

 

The ETHS junior varsity team finished in third place in the JV Team Division of the Highland Park tournament.
