Evanston Township High School is proud to announce Miles Osei as the head coach of the ETHS football program. Osei, a respected leader and former Division I collegiate athlete, brings a decade of coaching experience and a strong commitment to developing student-athletes both on and off the field.

“This is an exciting day for Wildkit football and for our entire school community,” said Superintendent Dr. Marcus Campbell. “ETHS is committed to excellence in all that we do—from the classroom to the field of competition—and to ensuring the best possible experience for our student-athletes. After meeting with Coach Osei, it is clear that he shares this commitment. His approach to coaching perfectly aligns with our values and aspirations for the program, and we are thrilled to welcome him to ETHS.”

“Coach Osei is an outstanding, authentic leader with a strong passion for developing student-athletes,” said Athletic Director Chris Livatino. “His track record of competitive success as a coach and his vision for the program give me confidence in the future of ETHS football under his leadership—one where we can evolve, grow, compete, and win. More importantly, I am confident he will help shape our students into the disciplined leaders we need on the field, in the classroom, and in our community. We look forward to working together on the next chapter of Evanston football.”

Coach Osei comes to ETHS with a strong coaching background, most recently serving as the Head Coach at Kankakee High School, where he led the football program to its first consecutive seasons with double-digit wins in program history. In two years under Osei’s leadership, the team achieved a combined 21-3 record, earning back-to-back IHSA Class 6A quarterfinals appearances and securing consecutive Southland Athletic Conference championships—both milestones for the program.

He began his coaching career as an assistant coach at Wheeling High School before taking on his first head coaching role at Elk Grove High School in 2017, where he worked to rebuild the program and restore its standing as a contender, ultimately guiding the team to its first playoff appearance in nearly a decade. Coach Osei’s approach to building a program is rooted in detail, discipline, accountability, and an unwavering commitment to student-athlete development, reinforcing ETHS’s commitment to preparing students for lifelong success.

“It’s not often that a coach gets the chance to lead a program with the rich tradition of Evanston Township High School,” said Coach Osei. “Being named head coach is an honor beyond measure, and I’m thankful to have been given this tremendous opportunity. My family is excited to make Evanston our home and become part of this special community. I look forward to partnering with Mr. Livatino and our coaching staff to build on the strong foundation that has been laid and shape the future of Evanston football. This responsibility is bigger than wins and losses—and I’m ready to get to work.”

A 2010 graduate of Prospect High School, Osei was a standout quarterback for the Knights, earning all-state honors in back-to-back seasons. He continued his football career at the University of Illinois, where he played as both a quarterback and wide receiver. His successful playing career offers a unique perspective and deep understanding of the game that will inspire and motivate our student-athletes.

In addition to his coaching experience, Coach Miles is an accomplished educator. Currently, he is a Special Education teacher at Kankakee High School. His combined experience as a coach and an educator equips him to inspire and mentor students, not only in competition but also in the classroom. Under his leadership at both Kankakee and Elk Grove, the football program saw significant academic improvement among its student-athletes.

Osei also has strong ties to Evanston, having lived in the community for several years and participated in the Evanston-based Fellowship of Afro-American Men (FAAM) sports program during his youth.

With his selection for the position, Coach Osei becomes the first Black head coach in the history of the ETHS football program.
