School Day Open House Guidelines & Information

    • Parking for the School Day Open House is available in certain lots at the front and rear of the school. Parking is available in Visitor Lot 2B behind the school, Lot #4 near Lazier Field off Church Street, as well as on Dodge Avenue and on the east side of Pitner Avenue. The City of Evanston has waived parking restrictions on these streets for this date only. ETHS Safety Staff will be on site to help guide guests to designated parking areas.

    • If you are attending classes with your student(s) all day or in the morning, plan to arrive between 7:00-8:00am to find parking and to check in for the day. Complimentary coffee, tea, juice and morning snacks will be available beginning at 7:30am in the Welcome Center (E112). First period begins at 8:32am.

    • If you are attending classes with your student(s) in the afternoon, plan to arrive before your student's lunch period to find parking and check in. We recommend that you and your student agree ahead of time on a place to meet (i.e., cafeteria or a specific classroom). After checking in, come to the Welcome Center if you need assistance locating your student's classroom or to receive a printout of your student's schedule.

    • When you arrive, enter through Entrance #2 (Wildkit Drive, rear of school) or Entrance #1 (Dodge Avenue, front of school) to sign in at the registration tables and to pick up your VIP School Day Open House badge and school map.

    • The Welcome Center "VIP (Very Important Parent/Guardian/Relative) Suite" in E112 is available to adult guests beginning at 7:30am through 2:00pm. Drop in at any time to enjoy complimentary light snacks and refreshments or take a break from attending classes. Free Wi-Fi access is available.

    • The bell schedule is available here and on the ETHS Mobile App. NOTE: You must follow your student's current class schedule. Drop-in visits to other classes or to teacher classrooms during unscheduled periods are not permitted.

    • Bring cash to pay for lunch. Adult guests are invited to purchase full lunches in the student cafeterias and the staff Terrace Dining Room, or may enjoy complimentary light refreshments or eat food brought from home in the Welcome Center VIP Suite in room E112. ETHS cafeterias provide lunch service from 10:26am-12:15pm, while the Welcome Center will be open throughout the day until 2:00pm. Guests are invited to eat in the student cafeterias with their student(s), but there is limited seating available in the freshman cafeteria (East Cafeteria). Adult guests attending School Day Open House with freshmen can choose to purchase food and eat with their freshman student(s) in the South Study Cafe.

    • Adults guests may accompany their student(s) to the Student Success Center (aka The Hub) in W220 during their unscheduled period or study hall period. In addition, The Hub will be open during the Evening Open House for adult guests who are not able to visit this space with their student during the school day.

    • The building is wheelchair accessible and elevator service is available for adults who require the assistance. Inform a staff member at the registration table during check in if you need assistance.

    • Wear comfortable clothes and shoes for walking. ETHS is a large building with multiple flights of stairs - be prepared to walk quickly every 33 minutes.

    • The school will be closing at 2:09pm to allow time for staff to prepare for the Evening Open House. All visitors and School Day Open House guests will be asked to leave the building at this time. Please be prepared to exit the building with your student(s) at the end of 9th period.
