Parent & Family Involvement Opportunities at ETHS

  • The following list highlights several opportunities for parent involvement at ETHS. In addition to these formal parent groups and committees, there are also a number of volunteer opportunities within the various ETHS departments (e.g.: the Jazz Festival planning committee through the Fine Arts Department), or through sports teams and student activities or clubs (e.g.: team parent for some sports teams and competitive clubs).

Boosters Club. The purpose of the ETHS Boosters is to encourage and promote all extracurricular activities at ETHS. It is one of the few Booster clubs in the Central Suburban League that supports music, fine arts, and after-school clubs in addition to sports. The Boosters raise money through membership fees and donations, Concession and Spirit Wear sales, and an Annual Benefit. All ETHS families, students, teachers and staff members are invited to join the Boosters. Members receive free admission to all home football and basketball games, and to select student concerts, with the Booster Membership card. Visit www.ethsboosters.org to join, donate, volunteer or learn more about the Boosters!

Evanston Black Advocacy Network (E-BAN). E-BAN is a network of ETHS parents, staff, and community members who work to promote the academic achievement and well-being of black students at ETHS. E-BAN serves as forum for sharing resources, expertise and experiences with families related to the education and personal development of black students. The network also seeks to build connections between ETHS and the black community in order to better serve families as they navigate students through four years of high school. For more information, contact E-BAN at eban@eths.k12.il.us.

Family Action Network: The Family Action Network (FAN) is a nonprofit organization that connects parents, educators and professionals through collaborative programming. All programs are free and open to the public. To learn about the FAN speaker series or to sign up for the FAN newsletter, visit www.familyactionnetwork.net.

Parent Ambassadors. The Parent Ambassador program was established to help transform parent involvement and position parents as "ambassadors" for Evanston Township High School. Parent Ambassadors help support prospective and incoming parents and families at scheduled events throughout the school year and as available during the summer months. Parents, guardians, and adult family members who are significant in the lives of current ETHS students in grades 9-12 are invited to become Parent Ambassadors. For more information on the Parent Ambassador program or to connect with a current Parent Ambassador, send an email to parentambassadors@eths.k12.il.us or visit ETHS Parent Ambassadors.

Parents Engaged. Parents Engaged provides programs, services and activities to foster communication between parents, students, administrators, educators, and the community to promote the education and well-being of all ETHS students. All parents and guardians of current ETHS students are members and are encouraged to stay in touch with other parents by subscribing to the Parents Engaged email list: ETHSParentsEngaged-subscribe@yahoogroups.com. More information is available at www.ETHSParentsEngaged.com.

Latino Advisory Committee. The Latino Advisory Committee supports and advocates for the Latino community in Evanston Township High School (ETHS) District 202 in matters relative to the learning environment and the educational needs of students. The Committee supports and sponsors projects and initiatives to resolve problems and positively impact the learning environment and the academic results for students. It is a space for parents/guardians to learn how to navigate through the school system and to acquire new skills to empower Latino members and the Latino Community. ETHS students, parents/guardians and staff, and District 202 community members are invited to be part of this committee. Meetings are held in Spanish with English interpreting. For more information, contact the Office of the Latino Liaison at 847-424-7166 or fernandezm@eths.k12.il.us.
