Equity Initiatives at ETHS
-
Educational equity is raising the achievement of all students while narrowing the gaps between the highest- and lowest-performing students; and eliminating the racial predictability and disproportionality of which student groups occupy the highest- and lowest-achievement categories. Equity initiatives at ETHS District 202 include collaborations and events for everyone in our school community (students, families, and staff) who have opportunities to connect with each other and reflect individually and collectively while isolating race, cultivating cultural responsiveness, and dismantling institutional racism.
During the 2020-21 school year, ETHS collaborated with REL Midwest, a program through the U.S. Department of Education, to explore why Black teachers leave the teaching profession and the best practices for retaining them. The video has perspectives from ETHS teachers and administrators. Learn more about Creating inclusive workplaces for Black teachers.
