TalkingPoints at ETHS

  • ETHS uses TalkingPoints, an easy-to-use platform that helps ETHS teachers and staff communicate directly with families through text messages. TalkingPoints automatically translates messages into over 150 languages, so more families can receive important messages in their preferred language.

    With TalkingPoints, you can:

    • Communicate with your student’s teachers and other school staff

    • Receive messages automatically translated into your preferred language

    • Send messages in your preferred language that are automatically translated

    • Get important updates from ETHS via text message

     

    How It Works:

    1. Parents/Guardians Receive Messages via Text
      Families will receive messages from ETHS teachers and staff via SMS text. Reply to the text message in your preferred language, and TalkingPoints will automatically translate your message if needed. If you prefer, you can download the TalkingPoints app.

    1. Two-Way Communication
      TalkingPoints allows for two-way messaging. You can ask questions or share important information with your student’s teachers, and both sides can communicate in their preferred languages. TalkingPoints will automatically translate your messages as needed.

    2. Free and Accessible
      TalkingPoints is free to use. You don’t need internet access or a smartphone to receive or send messages—just a mobile phone with texting capabilities. Note: Standard messaging and data rates may apply based on your mobile plan.

    3. Communication to Students
      Only authorized staff members, such as teachers, coaches, and club sponsors, may use TalkingPoints to send messages directly to students. This includes important updates, such as messages about assignments, practice schedules, or upcoming events. Students must opt-in to receive these messages.

     

    How to Get Started:

    • For Families:

      • Ensure that your contact information is up-to-date in Home Access Center (HAC).

      • You will automatically start receiving text messages from your child’s teachers or school staff through TalkingPoints.

    • For Students:

      • Look for an email from TalkingPoints about how to opt-in to receive text messages. You only have to opt-in once. 

      • Your teachers, coaches, or club sponsors can also assist on how to opt-in and download the TalkingPoints app.

      • Once you’ve opted in, you’ll start receiving messages about your classes, practices, or other school-related activities via text.
